Ian Fleming had visited White
Cliff Cottage a number of times before purchasing it from his friend Noel
Coward in 1951. The cottage, sited almost on the beach at St Margaret's Bay in
Kent is almost unchanged externally, although the once distinctive lime green
window shutter's are now yellow.
In his 007 book Moonraker
(1955) part of the story is set in and around St Margaret's and nearby
Kingsdown. The evil Drax had built his secret rocket installation into the
cliffs further north from the cottage towards Kingsdown.
A pay and display car park can
be found in the Bay from where a short stroll north along the beach will bring
White Cliffs Cottage into view.
