In 1929, a tornado swept through the small town of Woodville, Virginia and destroyed the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, but the churchyardClick for related waymark to open in new window and apparently, a few of the trees survived the devastation. One of the trees is claiming a headstone and threatens to totally swallow it and all traces of the identity of who lies beneath its mammoth girth. All that can be seen of the inscription is:

TON W. RE
1881 --- 1902

It can be safely assumed the last name is RECTOR since a nearby marker bears the same name.

Type of Tree: Oak?
