The Prattville Dragoons Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans dedicated this memorial in April, 2002. It is located near the intersection of Washington Street and East 4th Street, across the street from St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The 100 strong unit became part of the Alabama 3rd Cavalry and served throughout the war, completing its service under General Joseph E. Johnston in North Carolina. The unit disbanded at the end of the war and the men that remained returned to their homes. More information can be found at (
