Seit 1992 befindet sich hier an der europäischen Wasserscheide die Granitskulptur "Scheitelhaltung" von Hansjörg Voth. Die Skulptur wurde von der RMD zur Eröffnung des Kanals errichtet.
"Die Granitskulptur markiert auf beiden Seiten des Rhein-Main-Donau-Kanals die im Lageplan vorgegebene Linie der europäischen Wasserscheide. Auf der Südseite des Kanals, am höchsten Punkt des Geländes, wächst die Skulptur, indem sie die topographische Situation einbezieht, aus dem Boden, steigt langsam zu dem Kanalufer an und bricht nach einer Länge von 144,20 Metern, bei einer Höhe von 14 Metern und einer Sohlbreite von 3 Metern, spaltrauh am Böschungsrand ab.
Die Länge der Skulptur auf der Nordseite des Kanals beträgt 43,40 Meter und endet am Böschungsrand in einer Höhe von 2,80 Metern und einer Sohlbreite von 2 Meter. Von der Wasserseite weithin sichtbar, ragt der helle Granit, einem Segel gleich, aus der grünen Uferböschung. Während man sich der Skulptur nähert und an ihr vorbeifährt, verjüngt sie sich perspektivisch bis zu einer schmalen dreieckigen Marke, die über den oberen Böschungsrand emporragt.
Dieser Eindruck läßt die Vorstellung entstehen, dass der höchste Punkt der Reise, an dem sich die Gewässer scheiden, erreicht ist.
Fündig wurde Voth in Aicha vorm Wald. Tittlinger Granit wird dort gebrochen, der hellste deutsche Granit. Monatelange Knochenarbeit folgt: Mit Luftkissen wurden die bis zu 60 Tonnen schweren Granitbrocken freigearbeitet, Zimmergroße Steine müssen mehrmals gewendet werden, um sie mit Seilsägen millimetergenau zuzuschneiden. So streng Voth in seiner Formensprache ist, so viel Wert legt er auf das Ausdrucksmittel Licht. Bruchrauh belassen sind die Granitkeile an der zum Wasser gewandten Stirnseite; die grobe Struktur schluckt das Licht, der Stein wirkt, als ob sich ein großer Schatten über ihn gelegt hat. Die Längsseiten hingegen sind gestockt, winzige Prismen reflektieren auf dem so bearbeiteten Stein das Licht: Trifft die Sonne auf diese Millionen von Facetten, wird aus dem kühlen Steinkeil das blendendweiße Segel." Since 1992 the granite sculpture "Scheitelhaltung" by Hansjörg Voth is placed on the european watershed. The sculpture was built by the RMD for the opening of the channel.
The granite sculpture marks on both sides of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, the line given in the map of the european watershed. On the south side of the canal, at the highest point of the site, the sculpture is growing by reaching out to the topographical situation of the ground rises slowly to the canal bank and breaks after a length of 473ft and a height of 46ft and a bottom width of 9.8ft, splitting the rough slope from the edge.
