"Schloss Wörth ist ein Schloss in Wörth an der Donau im oberpfälzischen Landkreis Regensburg. Das Schloss liegt neben der Autobahn A 3 auf einem Berg mitten im Ort.
Die Grundherrschaft gehörte zu den ältesten Besitzen des Hochstifts Regensburg. Die hier befindliche Burg wurde im Jahr 1264 in einer Urkunde erstmals erwähnt. Sie wurde seit 1345 von den Bischöfen von Regensburg an lokale Adelsgeschlechter wie die Auer und die Chamerauer verpfändet. 1433 konnten Bischof Konrad die Burg gegen Zugeständnisse an die bayerischen Herzöge auslösen. Dank des zugehörigen großen Forstes wurde die Herrschaft reichsunmittelbarer Besitz der Bischöfe.
Die Burg wurde ab 1522 im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert zu einem Schloss im Renaissance-Stil umgestaltet. Der größte Teil des Neubaus entstand unter dem Administrator Pfalzgraf Johann (1507–1538). Um 1570 war man noch mit dem Ausbau der Wohntrakte beschäftigt. 1616 fügte Bischof Albert von Toerring-Stein die Kapelle und den Nordtrakt hinzu. Das Schloss wurde von Pflegern verwaltet und diente den Bischöfen als Sommerresidenz, zeitweise verlegten sie ihren Sitz ganz hierher. 1803 fiel das Gebiet an das neue Fürstentum Regensburg.
Am 26. Juli 1806 unterzeichnete im Königszimmer Fürstbischof Karl Theodor von Dalberg, der letzte geistliche Reichsfürst, die Rheinbundakte. 1810 kam Wörth an das Königreich Bayern. Dieses überließ es 1812 den Thurn und Taxis als Entschädigung für die aufgehobenen Postrechte des damaligen Reichspostmeisters Karl Alexander von Thurn und Taxis. Bis zur Neuordnung 1848 war in Wörth ein Patrimonialgericht der Thurn und Taxis. Danach befand sich hier ein Landgericht älterer Ordnung, später bis 1939 ein Amtsgericht. 1899 wurde dem Hause Thurn und Taxis der Titel Herzog von Wörth und Donaustauf verliehen.
Von 1949 bis 1976 unterhielt die Deutsche Bundesbahn hier eine Weiterbildungsschule. 1978 verkaufte Johannes Prinz von Thurn und Taxis das Schloss, 1984 erwarb es eine Schlossherrengemeinschaft, von deren Mitgliedern der Landkreis Regensburg der Bedeutendste ist. 1988 wurde es von einem Seniorenstift angemietet, das seither im Schloss ein Seniorenwohnheim mit einer Pflegeabteilung betreibt." wikipedia

Castle Woerth is a castle in Woerth on the Danube in the Upper Palatinate district Regensburg. The castle is located next to the highway A3 on a hill in the city.
The basic rule was one of the oldest possession of the Bishopric of Regensburg. The castle was located here in 1264, first mentioned in a document. It has been pledged since 1345 by the bishops of Regensburg to local aristocratic families like the Auer and Chamerauer. 1433 Bishop Konrad could trigger the castle against concessions to the Bavarian dukes.
The castle was transferred from 1522 through the 16th and 17 Century into a Renaissance castle. The largest part of the new building was built under the Administrator Pfalzgraf Johann (1507-1538). By 1570 it was still busy with the expansion of the residential wings. 1616 Bishop Albert Toerring-Stein added the chapel and the north wing. The castle was administered by nurses and served as a summer residence of the bishops, at times they moved their headquarters here completely. In 1803 the area became part of the new principality of Regensburg.
On 26 July 1806 in King rooms Prince Bishop Karl Theodor von Dalberg, sigend the last prince spiritual realm, the Act of Confederation. In 1810 Woerth came to the Kingdom of Bavaria. It left it in 1812 to the Thurn and Taxis postal repealed as compensation for the rights of the then Imperial Postmaster Karl Alexander von Thurn und Taxis. Until the reorganization in 1848, Worth was a patrimonial of the Thurn and Taxis. Then here was a senior district court order, until later in 1939 a district court. In 1899 the House of Thurn und Taxis, the title Duke of Woerth was awarded to Donaustauf.
From 1949 to 1976, the German Federal Railroad maintained a training school here. 1978 Prince Johannes of Thurn and Taxis sold the castle, 1984 it acquired a castle owner community, whose members include the district of Regensburg. 1988 it was rented from a retirement home, which has since operated a retirement home in the castle with a nursing department. wikipedia
