The Femme Osage Evangelical Church
First German Evangelical congregation west of the Mississippi. Founded in 1833 by Rev. Hermann Garlichs from Bremen, Germany. His successor in a 45 year ministry was the Rev. Casper H. Bode. The present church building was erected in 1888. For 33 years was located in this parish the Theological Seminary of the Nirchenverein Des Westens (Later the Evangelical Synod of North America), now known as Eden Theological Seminary and located in Webster Grove, Mo.
