In the year 2000 the City of Greenfield buried a time capsule in the downtown triangle formed by Main Street, Bank Row Street and Court Square. The capsule attempts to speak to future generations and will be opened in the year 2100. A granite tablet, set flush with the ground, is inscribed with the purpose:
