Dr. Ben Drew Kimpel ( 1915-1983) was a Professor of English at the University of Arkansas from 1952 to 1983. A plaque on the ground behind the sculpture reads: This statue, created by sculptor Jim Westbrook, was dedicated April 21, 1995. The generosity of the people listed below is a testament to the impact of Dr. Kimpel's life (list of names follow in four columns) Landscaping by University of Arkansas Physical Plant.
