This marker for the
64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (or 64th OVI) is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marker the position of the 64th at 12:30 p.m. on September 20, 1863. This is one of three markers to the 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment on the battlefield. The 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was organized at Camp Buckingham in Mansfield, Ohio and mustered into Federal service on November 9, 1861.
