The Castro of Chibanes is a fortress pre and proto-historic with the following occupation phases:
- Chalcolithic (Copper Age) and full original, 3rd millennium BC;
- Late Chalcolithic / Bronze old, 1st half of the II millennium BC;
- The period of abandonment for about 1,700 years;
- 2nd Iron Age (3rd and 2nd centuries BC);
- Republican Roman period (2nd and 1st century BC);
- Roman Imperial Period.
Strategically located at the top of the Serra do Louro, included in the Natural Park of Arrábida, a point where one can see the north and south of the Tagus estuary of the Sado estuary.
From archaeological studies, it was possible to relate the existing artificial caves in the vicinity (known as the Caves the Quinta do Anjo) with the settlement used to bury their dead.
