This four sided memorial is a centerpiece in Sioux Falls’ Veterans Memorial Park. Rather than having separate memorials for each war, this park has chosen to list all the wars in which South Dakotas have participated, from the Spanish American through the Iraqui Freedom wars. The Spanish American War is listed first on the first side of the monument with the dates 1898–1902.
The eight conflicts are carved into two sides of the Sioux quartzite monument; the remaining two sides are left blank. No dedication date is recorded on the monument, but the park was dedicated in 2006.
