This crudely made marker lists the industrial activity by Forge Pond and the Canton River.
Waymark Code: WMDM9
Location: Massachusetts, United States
Date Posted: 05/27/2006

The marker states:
"For those who served Canton 1774-1974
"Near by stood
"Powder Mill
"Leonard Forge
"Kinsley Iron Works
"Revere Copper Yard"
This marker is at the dam where Forge Pond spills over to form the Canton River/East Branch of the Neponset River.
Added note: The Revere Copper Yard was started by Paul Revere, the same person who was the general message boy for the Revolutionary War. In addition to being a skilled silversmith, he acquired the knowledge to cast bells (many are either on display or still used), and he was the first to figure out how to roll copper from ingots into sheets. The company has since merged with other companies and now is in New Bedford as Revere Copper.
