This pub occupies a large plot on Clevedon's seafront from which there are superb views of the Bristol Channel right across to South Wales, including the famous Victorian Pier. It offers home cooked food, real ales and accommodation at reasonable rates. There is a large open-air dining area at first-floor level which allows excellent views on balmy summer evenings and to watch the sun go down. There is a reasonablely sized private car-park with more parking just across the road by the beach.
The pub sign shows a rather drunken, top-hatted fellow gazing out to sea, with the pier in evidence, looking at the sixpence of the full moon. (A Sixpence was 1/24th of a Pound, equal to 6 old pence, worth 2 1/2p in current coinage).
