Not as easy as it might look.
This palindrome is found on the southern outskirts of the small, central Malaysian city of Ipoh, in the state of Perak. A state and city founded by the British in the perhaps (certainly for some) halcyon days of Empire, on the tin mining business. Now a quiet spot.
This particular palindrome is just a little tricky. It is situated over a canal (some might call it an open drain), which runs parallel to a suburban street, which in turn is adjacent to a shopping mall. To reach the actual locale of the palindrome one must first go to the street side, canal railing, identify the eigth vertical post of this railing, counting eastwards form the mall. Then, one must duck under the lower horozontal bar of the railing, grasp the railing with one hand, and then extend the other arm holding the gps over the canal, slightly less than one metre is satisfactory. At this point one will be at the palindrome latitude and longitude.
To add to this situation, there are locals walking by to the mall, who will smile and wonder in amazement what you are doing. A few of these people will also present you with the near impossible task of explaining what it is you are doing, by asking you if you are lost or in need of assistance. This area is in what one might refer to as the slightly less pleasant part of town, not physically dangerous, not at least from humans, but I noticed a half dozen or more stray dogs in the vicinity. It is a sad fact that some stray dogs in SEA carry rabies. And, lastly, if you can hold your breath for five minutes, while in the presence of the canal, that would be good also.
Palindrome Type: Variant Palindrome
