Marble slabs mounted on short wooden posts are positioned throughout the zoo, quoting appropriate writings that relate to nature and the outdoors. The marble is green, and the wording is white, with a narrow white border. These are located along the many walkways and are nestled into gardens and treed areas, in a very natural manner.
This quotation is from Abram Linwood Urban, from a book entitled The Voice of the Garden, written in 1912. It reads:
Poor indeed is the garden in which
birds find no homes
