From the towns website and brochure on the mural:
"An inside look at the office of The Stony Plain Advertiser (1907) reveals the old printing press and a glimpse of the front page of one of the earlier editions of the town’s first newspaper. The building depicted on the mural dates back to the early 1920s. It was in use until 1965, when it was replaced by the new home of The Stony Plain Reporter."

The mural with its boardwalk to match the sidewalk gives the appearance that one could knock on the door and enter this early newspaper. The dog, likely named scoop, might greet you in a friendly manner, wagging the tail and hoping for a good news story. The press would be working away to provide the news of the day to a much smaller community than today.
