Moorgate underground station, not unsurprisingly, is in Moorgate to the west of the City pf London. Moorgate has 10 platforms but only six are used by London Underground.

The station was opened in December 1865 by the Metropolitan Railway as the first extension of its original route between Paddington and Faringdon. Originally called Moorgate Street, the station's name was shortened in 1924. The station is noticeable for its proliferation of disused tunnels, steps, lift shafts and subways, left behind after aborted extensions and modernisation work in the early 20th century.
Sadly, it holds the record for the most number of people killed in the underground in peacetime. A train hit the buffers killing 46 people in 1975.
