Monumento aos Saloios is an hommage to the rural workers of the areas around the city of Lisbon.
The sculture depicts a couple of "Saloios" in it´s traditional clothes(Saloio was the name called to the inhabitants of rural areas around Lisbon). The Saloios were normally farmers, rural workers. They worked the fields and raised animals like cows, chickens and rabbits in the areas around Lisbon and they took their production to the big city to sell.
This sculpture is an hommage to those men and women and was offered by the Loures Rotary Club to the city on the 17th May of 1997.
