Burry Port Woodlands, have several natural & artificial ponds, within planted woodland areas, The main feature is a 600 feet long earth sculpture amphitheatre, giving spectacular views over the Loughor Estuary, and Carmarthen Bay.

Burry port Woodlands was planted in the late 1990s and is now a wildlife haven. However the past was an industrial one and a large part of this coastal area was home to Carmarthen Bay Power Station.
The woodland now bridges the gap between a rich industrial past and an environment rich in wildlife.
Areas of natural tree growth were added to by the planting of native trees including birch, alder, and Quelder rose.
Corsican pine was also planted as it does well in this coastal location.
The coal-fired power station closed in 1983 but left a legacy of more than 200 acres of land covered in ash. An ambitious scheme to revitalise the area resulted in the beautiful community woodlands that we see today.
