This depot was built in 1894, shortly after the Great Northern Railway began running trains through Skykomish in 1893. Prior to 1894, a boxcar was used as the depot.

Since 1894, the depot has moved a few times, including in 2011, when it was moved to accomodate the enormous environmental clean-up of the town undertaken by the BNSF Railway. The Town of Skykomish gives a good accounting of the history of the town, including the depot.
