The renovation is completed.

The mysterious rue Saint-Jacques. At the time, the French have dubbed the main artery Agency of Canada "Rue Saint-Jacques" and the English "Saint James". This street is synonymous with wealth and influence was the second largest in what is now known as Montreal. Today, this street is lined with banks designated as the museum of high finance.
An ancestor worthy. The first St. James Hotel to beautify the streets of Montreal was a house of great prestige, a place where beautiful women and influential men sipping scotch served in a large ballroom. The main entrance of the hotel built at the turn of the 19th century faced the train station Bonaventure. Hotel Le St-James is known for its elegance and comfort it provides.
Behind the wall. In the early 18th century, Montreal was a walled city. The Merchants Bank was built on a vast land where the great protective wall was erected. In 1844, the Commercial Bank, which later became the Merchants Bank, acquired the property in order to establish its offices. In 1870, Hopkins and Wily important architects were commissioned to build a larger building. At the time, the first commercial port of the country was that of Montreal, which was developing at breakneck speed. In 1899, four additional floors were added to the original building, under the supervision of Edward Maxwell, an internationally renowned architect. Then in 1929, at the beginning of the Great Depression, the Merchants Bank-thriving despite the financial crisis - was sold to the fund company Nesbitt-Thompson.
Revisiting an era past. Today, the Hotel Le St-James sits on the crossroads of history in the Merchants Bank building official. One evening in the heart of the summer, drivers of modern transport us in time, there are hundreds of years, when bankers threw a look at their pocket watch while crossing the rue Saint- Jacques to go to the stock exchange and central telegraph offices just a few blocks.
The IS Completed renovation. On the lookout for beauties to find, the pillars of the Montreal community and Lucien Remillard Karen followed their strong intuition in business to restore the glorious emblem of the Merchants Bank building, which had remained vacant since 1995. In spring 2008, the Hotel Le St-James opened its doors as a luxury hotel equipped with sumptuous antiques and works of art. Ming vases, palanquin which belonged to a Maharaja of Jaipur, the list goes on.
Thus, as a grand cru, the Hotel Le St-James originated - with an adventurous palate, a color background and a bunch exceptional. The ultimate refinement for a very distinguished.
