Quick Description: This marker to the 41st Ohio Infantry Regiment is located in the wooded area on the western edge of the Brotherton Field near the split rail fence on the west side of Lafayette Rd in the Chickamauga NMP.

This marker is dedicated to the 41st Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, is in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks the unit's position at 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. September 19, 1863.

Short Significance Description:

Marker contributes to nat'l significance of park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans & related groups to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description

A 1'6" x 1'6" x 3' high granite obelisk with a raised letter inscription. Marks regiment's position in Brotherton Field on September 19, 1863, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
