The statue stands alongside the perimeter walls of the garden of Branksea Castle. It is located on the main walkway which leads from the ferry around the island. The shade of the trees and pine needles underfoot make a comfortable place to stand and you may be lucky and see a red squirrel.
Consisting of a statue of Lord Baden-Powell from the waist up, the statue is on a plinth with the following inscription:
'LORD BADEN-POWELL OM
Brownsea 1907
World 2007
Scouts and Guides of the World'
The image on the plinth shows Lord Baden-Powell under an oak tree with his arms outstretched. A sapling shows a young oak tree in 1907 and the grown tree is shown in 2007 to represent how Scouting has grown since it began.
