Caleidoscópio is a former Shopping in Lisbon. It was designed in 1971 by the architect Nuno San Payo, with the purpose of being a tourism office with tourist reception, dining rooms, one stage for live performances, a bar, various handicraft shops and service areas.
It was later adapted to a shopping mall and cinema (1974) and, in 2011 after loosing it´s importance interest as shopping to newer shopping in Lisbon it was given to the Lisbon University. It will maintain the actual bookstore, and is expected to build a cafeteria, restaurant, auditorium and study room.
The ceramic panel in the main facade is a work by the pottery artist Maria Emilia Silva Araujo and dates from the initial construction of the building.
