The clocks are mounted on each side a massive clock clock tower. The union station is in Richardsonian Romanesque style designed by Pittsburgh architect Thomas Rodd. The currently station was constructed beginning in November 1886 and opening in September 1888. The station continues to serve as an Amtrak station along with being a Greyhound station. It also serves as a hotel, charter school and other business offices.
