This sculpture is entitled La Renommee Montee sur Pegase" or "Truth Astride Pegasus" (Renommee literally means reputation, but in this context, "truth" is the better translation.) The 1719 marble piece is by Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720). It depicts a young female (Renommee) riding sidesaddle and blowing a trumpet. Her dress leaves her barebreasted and she also wears a laurel. The horse, Pegasus has huge wings emerging from his hindquarters and is leaping over a shield and lion pelt on a rectangular base.
