First United Methodist Church is located at 1800 Third Avenue, Jasper, AL. The church sits on the corner of 18th Street and 3rd Avenue across the street from the Court House. The exterior is white marble. There is a stained glass dome that occupies most of the ceiling of the sanctuary. A large brass plaque on one of the pews marks the place where President Franklin D. Roosevelt sat when he attended the funeral of William Brockman Bankhead on September 17, 1940. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
