Homem com Cão (Man with Dog) is a sculpture representing a reclined male figure with a dog whose mouth pours water into the lake can be found in the Jardim da Estrela (Estrela Garden) near the door in front of the Basilica.
It has an unknown origin and date probably from 1876 being one of two statues (The other, Man and a Lion is also in the garden) representing Portuguese rivers and ceded to the City Hall at that date the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, referred to as having no artistic merit.
The dog is damaged, probably vandalized.
The garden is open from 07:00 to 24:00
