Amarração (Moorage) is a work by the Portuguese artist Pedro Cabrita Reis.
The sculpture was made using simple and common materials that we are used to see in our day by day life. These materials can be industrial of from a construction site.
The sculpture was conceived specially for the Jerónimos Monastery and sugest´s something between a a boat and a dock, thereby reflecting a close relationship between the Tagus and the monastery, when the ships and sailors were arriving or departing from the beach that existed here.
The sculpture was initially placed in front of the Monastery but was moved to the actual location in front of the CCB (Centro Cultural de Belem) where the Museum Berardo (Owner of the sculpture) is housed.
Pedro Cabrita Reis (1956 in Lisbon, Portugal) is one of the leading Portuguese artists of his generation and has exhibited widely and participated in numerous international exhibitions.
