This plaque was placed on the fiftieth anniversary of the St. Albans Raid, the northernmost action of the Civil War, as described here.

According to James Campi of the Civil War Preservation Trust (in his book Civil War Sites, 2nd: The Official Guide to the Civil War Discovery Trail) this was the Franklin County Bank (one of the three banks robbed during the raid), which became the Franklin-Lamoille Bank and is now a TD Bank branch.
