This Monument was erected by Guilford G. Gage at a cost of $10,000 in 1895. This handsome monument is located in the historic Topeka Cemetery located at 1601 SE 10th Ave.

This granite monument is approximately 20 feet tall. It is made of grey granite and is topped by a Union soldier at ease. His rifle butt is on the ground with the barrel between his hands. There are panels on the four sides. This Monument was erected by Guilford G. Gage at a cost of $10,000 in 1895. It was unveiled on Memorial Day, 1895, and there is a large G.A.R. plot to the North and East. Directly to the East are the remains of those soldiers killed during the Battle of the Blue (Westport).
