Officially the Burlington Bay James N. Allan Skyway, the Skyway is a major feature of the Hamilton Harbour. The skyway was originally built in 1958 and then expanded in 1985. It features a cast-in-place segmental main span. For many years this was a toll bridge but those were removed in 1973. When is was finished it had Ontario's first freeway traffic management system. Finally due to the bridge's height, winds have been known to close the bridge on several occasions.
