Agawam World War I Memorial is in two parts. On an octagonal brick structure, topped with a cupola and a bell, there is a dedication plaque honoring all Agawam veterans and especially those whose names are listed on a plaque elsewhere on the octagonal structure that died in war. On a separate nearby plaque there is a listing of all Agawam citizens who served during United States Wars.

The dedication plaque is inscribed:

"A nation reveals itself not only by the men it
produces, but also by the men it honors and the men it
remembers .........

Dedicated this 27th Day of May 1989

IN HONOR OF ALL AGAWAM VETERANS WHO SERVED
THEIR COUNTRY IN TIME OF NEED AND ESPECIALLY
THOSE VETERANS WHOSE NAMES ARE LISTED HEREON
WHO SACRIFICED THEIR TOMORROWS FOR OUR TODAY.
