Jefferson Davis Star-Montgomery, Alabama - U.S. Civil War Sites on Waymarking.com

In February of 1861 delegates from the seven seceded states met in the senate chambers of the Alabama state capitol building to form a new government. On Febrary 18, 1861 Jefferson Davis was inaugarated President of the C.S.A on the steps of the capitol building. This bronze star marks the spot where he stood.

The inscription reads:

Place by Sophie Bibb Chapter Daughters of the Confederacy on the spot where Jefferson Davis stood when inaugurated President of the C.S.A Feb. 18, 1861
