Cowra Railway Station
Cowra station was opened on 1 November 1886 and was a significant point on the Blayney - Demondrille line. The Eugowa line terminated here and the station and surrounding infrastructure served a major town and the surrounding farming area.
During WW2 Cowra hosted a large military training camp as well as a POW camp for Japanese and Italian prisoners and the rail line saw large numbers of service personnel on their way to the training camp or leaving for service overseas.
The station had stock yards and goods sheds and nearby a large locomotive servicing plant.
The line section from Blayney to Cowra closed in late 1999 and station is now partly used by the Lachlan Valley Railway, a railway preservation society and partly leased to the Cowra Musical and Dramatic Society
