Howe Truss - Hayden Covered Bridge - Oregon - Truss Bridges on Waymarking.com

This historic covered bridge is located on the Hayden Road crossing of the Alsea River about 2 miles west of the community of Alsea. The bridge was built in 1918 and is one of the oldest covered bridges in Oregon. The bridge is 91 feet long and is built with a Howe truss. The vertical board and batten siding flares out at the base. There is a daylight window strip below the gable roofline on both sides of the bridge which illuminates the interior during the day.
The bridge was rebuilt in 1946 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on Nov. 29, 1979. The bridge was rehabilitated in 2003.
