Large Two Forms - Toronto, ON - Abstract Public Sculptures on Waymarking.com

This massive sculpture, weighing eight tons, is another masterpiece by sculptor Henry Moore, who also did The Archer which sits in Nathan Phillips Square in front of Toronto's new city hall. This sculpture consists of two separate pieces that bend into each other and seem to interact with each other. You must walk around the entire sculpture to experience it from all sides and all angles as it will look different from each position.

The actual pieces are large, rounded forms, each with a hole in the centre. The piece nearest Dundas Street is shaped much like a circle that has been bent and twisted continually until it can no longer return to it's perfectly round form. The second piece of this sculpture stands behind the first circle and it appears to be on two very short legs and is closer to a square shape. The second form appears to be leaning into the first form. When you look at this sculpture from the side you will notice that the two shapes seem to be about to interact - the back form advancing, the front form accepting.

Both of these pieces have a mostly green patina, with areas of brown, the exception is the highly polished areas in the centres of each shape where people are continually climbing through or sitting down on them.
