The statue depicts two coopers, in their traditional hats and aprons, taking a rest from their labours on a bench with their dog in attendance. The figures are based on period images from Hitchin library and the dog is modelled on the artists own dog.. The whole statue measures seven metres long and is three metres high and is attached to an electricity sub station at the new housing development. The artist was Godfrey Phillips of Offley and the statue was unveiled in mid 2011.
