This 1689 bronze sculpture entitled La Marne. It depicts a woman laying down and leaning to her left side. She is barebreasted with a mere cloth covering her waist. She wears a laurel and holds a cornucopia full of fruit with her left hand. Her right hand holds an item..perhaps a musical instrument? A cherub also holds onto the item and also holds a garland. The title indicates that this figure represents the Marne... a tributary to the Seine. There are similar works nearby representing other important rivers in France.
The artists are Balthasar Keller (1638-1702) and Etienne Le Hongre (1638-1702).
