The Alvor Church was built in the XVI century. The dominant style is the Baroque (Manueline), though much changed (the church was rebuilt in the XVIII century).
The interior has three naves supported by columns that belong to the initial construction together with the arch of the altar and the holy water fonts. The altar is in carved wood and has an image of Christ in size from the the eighteenth century.
The panel represents the Saviour also deserves being mentioned. The Lord of the Navigators has an important role, both in the church as in the stories that fishermen like to tell.
We also highlight the ornamental panels of tiles of the eighteenth century, featuring images and religious scenes.
The main door portico is carved with great decorative richness (many details and Renaissance figures).
The Patron Saint is the Divine Savior of Alvor (São Salvador).
