Ce timbre représente le Château de Val se reflétant dans la retenue du barrage de Bort-les-Orgues. Il a été émis le 19 novembre 1966. Oblitération 1er jour à Lanobre (Cantal) et Bort-les-orgues (Corrèze). C'est un timbre vertical 21,45x36 mm / Dentelure 13 / Coins datés

Le château de Val est une imposante forteresse flanquée de six tours couronnées de mâchicoulis et coiffées de toits en poivrière. Les différentes couvertures de ces tours donnent à la toiture des couleurs magnifiques.
Dans la cour d’honneur, une chapelle gothique (Monument historique), du XVe est dédiée à Saint-Blaise.
Le premier étage comprend trois grandes salles dont la décoration (plafonds et cheminées) date du milieu du XIXe siècle.
Le deuxième étage est réservé, chaque année, aux expositions des œuvres des plus grands artistes peintres contemporains. Au dernier étage, du chemin de ronde, on découvre un splendide panorama sur le lac.

The "château de Val" is an impressive fortress flanked by six towers crowned with machicolation and put on by roofs in pepperpot. The various blankets of these towers look to the roof of the magnificent colors.
In the main courtyard, a Gothic chapel, of the XVth is dedicated to Saint Blaise.
The first floor includes three halls the decoration of which (ceilings and chimneys) dates the middle of the XIXth century.
The second floor is reserved, every year, for the exposures of the works of the biggest contemporary painters. In the last floor, of the covered way, we discover a magnificent panorama on the lake.
