L'orangerie est construite par Jules Hardouin-Mansart en 1685, à la demande du marquis de Seignelay, le fils de Colbert, afin de servir d'abri aux orangers du parc en hiver et de salle de fête en été.
L'édifice est imposant: près d’une soixantaine de mètres de long et une dizaine de large.
A l'extérieur, Les façades, en pierre de taille, présentent, au-dessus des corniches, des frontons triangulaires où apparaissent des groupes d’enfants, allégories des saisons.
A l’intérieur, le vestibule et le vaisseau s’ornent d’une décoration constituée de mascarons, feuillages et fleurs.
Aujourd'hui, l’orangerie abrite une collection de sculptures en marbre et pierre, exécutées, pour la plupart, d’après des antiques célèbres, qui ornaient le domaine à l’époque des Colbert.
Des expositions, colloques et concerts qui s’y déroulent régulièrement.

The orangery is built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1685, at the request of the marquess of Seignelay, the son of Colbert, to serve as shelter in the orange trees of the park in winter and as festive room in summer.
The building is impressive: near about sixty meters long and about ten wide.
Outside, facades, stone of size, present, over ledges, triangular pediments where appear groups of children, allegories of the seasons.
Inside, the hallway and the vessel are decorated with a decoration constituted by mascarons, foliages and flowers.
Today, the orangery shelters a collection of marble sculptures and stone, executed, for the greater part, according to famous classic arts, which decorated the domain at the time of Colbert.
Exposures, colloquiums and concerts which take place there regularly.
