This 1681 marble statue is entitled "L'Eau" or "The Water" and is placed next to a beautiful fountain. The work depicts a woman in classic robes which cover only one arm and below her waist. She clenches the robes with her left hand while the right hand clutches a basin that from which water is flowing.
The artist is identified at the site as Pierre Legros but on Wikipedia as Pierre Le Gros the Elder (1629–1714), a French sculptor who is known mostly for his works at Versailles. His son, Pierre Le Gros the Younger was also a sculptor who worked mostly in Rome. Read more about the Elder at (
