This one took some digging to confirm it was a Burger Chef but in a 1979 history book in the local library I found conformation it was the site of the Burger Chef. When visiting the site if you go around to the back of the building you will see the original roof line of the old Burger Chef building that is still under all the remodeling that has been done to it since.
The old picture was taken just after the grand opening as you can see by the "NOW OPEN" sign in the front window.
The building remained in service as a Hardees (after the Imasco take over)until after 2000 when it finally closed. My grandparents loved to go there every day for coffee. They were real regulars. When my grandmother passed my grandpa went in alone and tried to get his normal cup of coffee but the manager refused to let him pay. He said he had heard of her passing and it was on the house. It was kind of touching.
After the Hardees finally closed the building sat empty for quite a few years. It looked to be destined for demolition when a Ice Cream shop opened in it. Unfortunately it closed in very short order (just a few weeks as I recall) and again things did not look good. But surprisingly it was converted to a table service pancake house now and has seen VERY good business. The atmosphere is a bit odd (still feels like a fast food joint and they still try to sell ice cream along with pancakes) but the food, service and helpings are all good so its doing well.
