Marker Name: Ojalla Bridge
Marker Text: Ojalla bridge stands on land that once belonged to George Stanton, a Yacona (Yaquina) Indian. Finnish immigrants Mattias and Aliina Ojalla purchased the property in 1907. The bridge carries the name of this Lincoln County Pioneer family.
The first bridge on this site was destroyed by flood after the Valsetz Dam broke in 1921. The present bridge, constructed in 1946, is the third to cross the river at this site.
