There are several markers that celebrate the route that George Washington took as he passed through New England. This one is different from the markers in Agawam, West Springfield, Palmer and Wayland. It explicitly commemorates an event that occured in 1775 when Washington travelled through Massachusetts from Agawam to Boston to take command of the Continenal Army during the Revolutionary War.
A slate marker is inset with the seal of the Sons of the American Revolution and inscribed:
