An old Milwaukee Road caboose in the park provides an good place to take a picture and see the inside of an old caboose.

In 2009, seven members of the Optimist Club renovated the old caboose in the Dell Rapids City Park. The Optimist Club renovated the caboose to make it safe for children to play in once more. The caboose is also decorated during the Christmas season. This caboose is kind of a landmark for Dell Rapids and the townspeople don’t want to see it get dilapidated and rot.
The caboose ties into the history of Dell Rapids. The railroad and quarry are why Dell Rapids is here according to a local business professional.
The Optimist Club has received grant money and donations from local businesses. In addition, the local quarry, L.G. Everist, has helped with the detailing to make the caboose as original as possible.
