Cunard was a shipping line that operated transatlantic passenger liners. This bulding was constructed between 1914 and 1917 and was based on designs of Italian palaces.
As well as being the offices of the company, the building housed waiting rooms for the passengers waiting for the liners’ departure.
Guarding the entrance to the building are these two lions, each supporting a shield with 3 lions carved on them. I wonder how many passengers noticed the lions as they entered the building.
