Spanning Afon Conwy on the E side of the castle and S of the modern road and suspension bridges this tubular bridge built Robert Stephenson between 1846 and 1848 carries the busy Holyhead to Chester railway line.

The wrought iron tubes have a span of 400ft and at each end of the bridge there is a crenellated tower.

There are two ASCE plaques. As with all public notices in Wales there is a second plaque in the Welsh language. The plaques are located on the wall of the tower furtherst from the castle. The plaques can only be viewed from a small platfrom on the suspension bridge. To get onto the suspension bridge there is a small fee. (Currently £1 for adults).

My coordinates where taken from this platfom by the plaques.

From the ground level location of the plaques it is difficult to appreciate the bridge. The best vantage point to view the bridge in from the towers of the nearby castle. (Currently £4.80 for adults).
