The award winning book, written by Phil Stong 70 years ago, was based on a true story that took place in the mid 1930’s and incorporates real-life residents and businesses.
The fiberglass statue has an engraved stone which reads: “Commemorating Honk the Moose. Funding made possible by Community of Biwabik, IRRRB, Biwabik Area Civic Assn., Biwabik Fireman’s Relief Assn. Weinachtsfest, 2000.”
